A Faithful Dog for 13 Years

Lazy died yesterday afternoon at a ripe old age of 15+ years. We didn't know his exact age since he was a stray dog, but we have had him for the past 13 years and the vet estimated he was 2-3 years old when he arrived here.  As I said, he was a stray. We first saw him out the window laying under a some farm equipment, but then he had wandered off... so we thought. Later that day, we were all outside after dinner, and some of us girls were playing with a ball near the house while Andrew was in the stroller, when the ball we were playing with accidentally rolled under the porch. I was going to retrieve the ball, but when I looked under the porch, this dog came running out at me. My sisters and I ran screaming to Mom who was in the garden... forgetting about Andrew who was still sitting there in the stroller. Fortunately, Lazy followed us and didn't bother him. He turned out to be a nice dog, so when we turned him over to Animal Control we said that if nobody claimed him, we would adopt him. No one claimed him, so that is how he came to be our dog.

St. Louis

It was our family "vacation" last week. But instead of going somewhere we decided we would stay home and work on getting the garage fixed up. So we put shelves in, painted, organized, and threw away a lot of junk that had collected over the years. For the last day we had a fun day where we went down to St. Louis. We went to the St. Louis Science Center to tour around there and watch a film on Air Racers in the omnimax theater. After the museum we went over to the zoo for the afternoon.
Looking around

Matthew standing over the interstate.

They had flight simulators, so Andrew decided to do it.

He didn't quite do a barrel, but he did go upside-down.

These monkeys were fun to watch. One of them side-skipped in a circle for us!

Must be pretty boring for the Lions...

It was fun watching the hippos swimming around.

While we were watching the elephants, a zoo worker was making it do different tricks. Here it is going to do its bow.

The photographer

The arch... no, we didn't go in it. It's just a picture from the highway!

Going home in traffic.
